Take U.S. Route 41 across the state. That’s the old way across the state. You get a flavor for the place that way, as opposed to the Interstate.
I would cut down to Everglades City. I took a jetboat ride out of there in the Everglades a while ago. There is also a formal entrance to the park a little east of that.
