I don’t know all the requirements, but I do know you can’t use a concealed weapons permit if you’re a body guard. There’s a guy in my state right now serving time in prison because he tried that.

You definitely need a license. Actually, a few of them. ‘D’ license is for ‘Unarmed Security (28 hr state certified class). ‘G’ license is for Armed Security (40 hr state certified class) Typically uniformed but can do plain clothes work on a limited basis. But what you really need is a ‘C’ license or ‘Private Investigator License’. And as of 2008, there is an exam as well. However, without previous PI experience, you must first take a 40 hr class and serve a 2 year internship or ‘CC’. To do that, you need a C licensed sponsor and they have to be within 50 miles of your residense.
So to answer your question, Yes. You need a G and C license to do Bodyguard work in Florida.
Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to attend an EP school, and get some tactical firearms and martial arts training.

Read the statutes, take the classes, submit your applications and tear your hair out waiting for the state to process them. Then you can network, market, cold call, etc. and try to find ‘Bodyguard’ or ‘Executive Protection’ work. It’s good work if you can get it.
