How can I contact/locate a Florida prison inmate?

Redrum asked:

I want to find the brother of an old friend. All I know is his name and that he is probably serving time in a Florida prison. Any information would be helpful, because I don’t even know What the laws are or if inmates can recieve mail from those they might not know, or if by law I can be told, yes, we have that person here at our prison. I don’t know how many prisons are in Florida. This person grew up around Deerefield Beach/Pompano(?) and I think he is in for murder/drugs or something along those lines.

The first website below will allow you to search for an inmate (including those who are out and on parole). The search also includes photos (in case you find, say, 200 John Smiths). If he is out on parole and you can find him on the first website, the state usually lists the last known address (as reported to his parole officer). The second one provides information about writing an inmate who is incarcerated.

    Good Luck!

Go on line and look for Florida Department of Corrections. There should be a link to a sight called Vines or something similar that is an inmate locater. All that you really need to know is name, and the approximate age. If you know more information it will help in your search. This should tell you where your friend is at.
    Good luck to you
