Where to stay when visiting Everglades National Park?

rorico asked: I’m planning an impromptu trip out of the snow of northern NY to the Everglades Park in a few weeks. Are there any clean, inexpensive hotels in the Florida City/Homestead area to stay at for a few days while there? Any other tips on visiting the park would be helpful also.
